Campaign Story
KitePhone was founded with a mission to serve two groups usually ignored by mainstream mobile brands: children and elderly users. For kids, parents wanted affordable phones with parental controls, location tracking, and restricted apps. For the elderly, families wanted devices with large fonts, loud audio, SOS buttons, and simplified UIs.
KitePhone designed entry-level Android devices priced under ₹4,000, tailored specifically for these two segments. The kid-focused models included safe calling features and school-time app locks, while the senior-focused models had big keypads, voice-assist calling, and emergency buttons. The idea resonated with both audiences, and in the first 3 months, over 2,200 devices were sold in Hyderabad and Secunderabad.
But the startup is now facing severe financial pressure. Margins are razor-thin, suppliers demand upfront cash, and without marketing budgets, KitePhone is struggling to reach wider adoption. The founders are personally handling deliveries and customer complaints, operating from a small shared office.
Despite the challenges, demand is very real—schools, NGOs, and senior care centers have shown interest in bulk orders. The startup is sitting at the edge: with funding, it could carve out a unique niche in India’s massive mobile market. Without it, KitePhone will collapse, leaving a critical gap unserved.
